The Real Canadian Queen
Queen of Music
Queen of Life
Well, I'm sure you have heard all about Joni's surprise performance at Newport Folk Festival, sitting regally, and smiling...in her happy place. I happened to hear about Joni's appearance at the festival, first of course through the internet, secondly before I actually read any of the articles, was from a friend who had been kayaking in the waters around Newport. She heard a voice that reminded her of Joni Mitchell. Only to find out it actually was Joni Mitchell!
At 78, Joni is still playing electric guitar. And most of assumed that we might never see or hear of Joni Mitchell performing again. But there she was, rocking it out. So to all the rock criticism that she took in the 70's, eg: Rolling Stone writing about her love life instead of her music, suck on that.
See Joni rocking it out playing 'Just Like This Train' here:
I particularly have a love for this Canadian Queen as we are from the prairie province of Saskatchewan.
She is also the first Canadian woman to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Joni was the first Canadian to earn a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
Keep Rocking Queens!
Our offices have relocated and we are almost settled so as I'm sorting and organizing, I'll be riding around in a Big Yellow Taxi this week. Joni-ing it up.
Join me! Also, look who is getting a refill in the background!

"Big Yellow Taxi"
They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique
And a swinging hot spot
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone?
They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot
They took all the trees
Put 'em in a tree museum
Then they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone?
They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot
Hey, farmer, farmer
Put away that DDT now
Give me spots on my apples
But leave me the birds and the bees
Please!
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone?
They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot
Late last night I heard the screen door slam
And a big yellow taxi took away my old man
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone?
They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot
